A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF CARE goes into helping residents to choose where they will live most successfully. Since there’s no one living situation that’s right for everyone, we offer residential options on our Ross Campus as well as in ten community-based homes.
Some individuals enjoy living in a neighborhood-based home. Campus-style living works well for some who like being in the midst of the action. If a different placement will contribute to a greater quality of life for one of our clients, we don’t hesitate to recommend changes. Our residents are complex individuals with full lives. In the pages that follow, we’ve shared a bit of information on the lives and interests of each and every Cedars resident.
Ross Campus
The Ross Campus features four newly renovated residence halls catering to the differing needs of adults with developmental disabilities. Each building has its own staff as well as kitchen, living room, and dining room.
There are many activities offered during “off hours”, including bingo, walking groups, craft making, and musical sessions. Because we are amply staffed, residents can opt out of any given activity. This affords them a higher degree of personal choice in how they spend their time.
Residential Manager Sharri McNeal has been with The Cedars since 1968 and regards the residents, many of whom she’s known and cared for all these years, as family.
“Seeing these individuals rise to challenges and accomplish some of their dreams has been the joy of my life,” says McNeal. “Keep in mind,” she adds, “that it wasn’t until the mid-1970’s that these folks were seen as full-fledged citizens, entitled to grow to their full potential.”
Community-Based Homes
The Cedars of Marin owns and operates ten community-based homes in Novato and San Rafael, California. Each has a unique atmosphere that reflects the personalities of the residents and house managers.
